In March, a team of CooperVision employees from CooperVision’s Hamble manufacturing plant attended the annual British Quality Foundation awards. A Green Belt yield improvement project managed by Asset Care Engineer Paul Hayward was nominated for an award, and the project team which included Julie Beynon, Emily Fahy, Darren Kent, Elaine Marszall, Denise Penfold and Rob George were all in attendance along with Senior Engineering Manager Richard Bellamy.
The event was hosted by Princess Anne, daughter of Queen Elizabeth II. At the event, the CooperVision team was incredibly honored to receive the Jury’s Commendation Award in recognition of the hard work and innovation involved in this project.
The project was to design a new layout in lens transfer, incorporating a fixed showerhead which essentially ensures that the height, size and shape of the water droplets used to transfer our Biofinity® lenses are optimized to minimized damage and maximize yield.
A true testament to our inventive spirit at CooperVision, this project resulted in a notable yield improvement, and has now been rolled-out to every Biofinity® line in U.K. Manufacturing.
Congratulations to Paul and his team!
